Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust [KVWT]- Service to Community

Dear Friends

Greetings from Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust!

Dear members of Kannada Vaishya Samaj,

I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year. I feel happy to communicate with you through our newsletter SPANDANA. I am proud to say that Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust has been carrying out outstanding work for the upliftment of our community members. It’s a matter of great pride to know that the entire Vaishya Community is supporting the activities of the Trust. I congratulate all the Trustees and Executive Members of the trust for discharging their responsibilities in a fruitful manner. I want your continued blessings and cooperation in all our future endeavors. Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust has been at the forefront in the field of education, economic upliftment, honoring achievers, supporting learning and career development, etc. We have set new traditions like Pratibha Puraskar programs, wherein students of SSLC and PUC who have scored more than 90 percent are honored. We have introduced another novel program of identifying extraordinary persons whose achievements are recognized and conferred them with our KANNADAVAISHYA VIJAYA RATNA AWARD in a glittering function. The first VijayaRatna Award function was arranged in Belgaum. Today, we are witnessing the same program in Bengaluru. Recipients of this award are highly motivated to do many good things in the future. Now, we have a big responsibility of enrolling ourselves in the caste certification process and to implore upon the Govt. to include our caste in the list of E.W.S. in the upper caste category. We have some influential people in our community and I am sure our hard-working trustees will channelize their help and support to achieve our goal. I earnestly appeal to all of you to continue to support the activities of the Trust. Be liberal in your donations. We have to be financially strong so that we can reach out to a large number of people.

With warm personal regards,

Dr. Shridhar N Shetti

Chairman, Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust

SECRETARIAL NOTES – By GAJANAN NAGARKATTE

Dear Friends,
On behalf of Kannada Vaishya Welfare Trust, it is my privilege to present to you the Newsletter for 2017-2019, which provides a summary of all major activities that our Trust had undertaken during the course of these two and a half years. Through this report, our framework, funding, composition, focus and our hopes will be unraveled before you. It’s been 3 years since our journey of supporting and helping the genuine needs of our Kannada Vaishya Samaj members began with the establishment of this Trust. By and large, we have been extremely successful in fulfilling most of our objectives. With the active support our fellow Trustees, we have been time and again lending a helping hand to members of our community, mainly the youth. Programs on career guidance, personality development, felicitation of student achievers, providing economic support to needy members, and many such
activities are a staple feature in our agenda.
Along with these activities, we have embarked on some new initiatives. One of them is the Kannada Vaishya Vijaya Ratna Awards, which is aimed at honouring outstanding achievements by the members of our community in their chosen fields. We have been identifying and felicitating such achievers at various places so as to motivate our younger generation to do better and excel in their own career and profession. Another assignment we have taken up is the KVWT Community Outreach Program, wherein we are able to assist people in need on a case by case basis. The Trust has been instrumental in reaching out to quite a few people directly or by means of community funding. I urge all well to do individuals and families to join us in our endeavour to lend a helping hand to the needy.
Many community members have supported the Trust either by becoming Executive Members or by donating generously to our various projects. I take this opportunity to thank all our well-wishers & supporters on behalf of KVW Trust. This year, we have added one more trustee to our group taking our total strength to 11. Shri Pradeep Hariyappa Shetti from Dharwad is the new Trustee. I heartily welcome Shri Pradeep Shetti to our Team. This year, we have conducted various events & meetings of like-minded people at different places where our
community people are based like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hubli, Yellapur, Dharwad, Ankola, Belgaum and Sirsi. We have received warm reception and ample support for our activities everywhere. Most of the local Sanghas have contributed generously in the organization and conduct of our programs. I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the supporters & committee members of various K.V.S. organizations who have helped us in the successful conduct of our various functions. I also thank all the resource persons, event management teams, parents and students who have involved themselves in our activities. The Trust has also taken up the responsibility of obtaining the Caste Certificate for our Kannada Vaishya community which was a long pending issue. I am pleased to announce that we have taken giant steps in this regard. The Trust is grateful to all the elders and members of our various Sanghas who have helped us in this
regard. A detailed report on this matter is available in the inner pages of this newsletter. The Trust has a vision for the future which is well-defined and resolute. We seek your whole-hearted support and blessings. In the meantime, please go through this newsletter and give us your valuable feedback and opinions regarding our activities.

Kannada Vaishya Samaj is one of the smallest communities among 300 plus Vaishya Samajas in India, hence we are not able to draw the attention of the Govt. to obtain any facilities & assistance. Bigger communities like Agarwal Vaishya Samaj, Rouniyar Vaishya Samaj, Arya Vyshya Samaj, Vaishya Vani Samaj have progressed in all fields of life. Realising this KVWT took the initiative and facilitated our Samaj Bandhus especially the youths to meet and interact with the other Vaishya organizations and encouraged them to participate in various programs, business workshops and religious get-togethers which are aimed at the overall development of Vaishya Samaj
